The Challenge

DETRAC already had a website, but it was showing its age. The existing site offered limited functionality, weak performance on mobile devices, and inconsistent branding, which undersold an organization responsible for coordinating trauma and emergency-preparedness care across an entire region. The goal was not to start from scratch but to modernize: keep what the council needed, improve everything around it, and move the site onto a faster, more reliable platform.

The first challenge was structure. DETRAC manages a large volume of governance and reference material, board and committee information, agendas, minutes, bylaws, forms, and injury-prevention resources, and the old site made much of it hard to navigate. Member agencies needed to reach documents quickly, so the redesign had to impose a clear, logical organization on a lot of content.

The second challenge was responsiveness and performance. The previous site did not work well on modern devices, and a regional healthcare body needs a site that loads fast and reads cleanly whether someone opens it on a desktop at a hospital or a phone in the field. Rebuilding on WordPress and moving to high-performance hosting addressed both.

The third challenge was credibility and findability. The branding needed to feel consistent and professional to match the seriousness of DETRAC’s mission, and the site needed stronger Local SEO so member agencies and community members across Deep East Texas could find its resources.

The challenge was to take a dated, underperforming site and turn it into a faster, better-organized, better-branded resource without losing the institutional content the council depends on.

What We Built

MasseyMedia redesigned the DETRAC website and rebuilt it on WordPress, then moved it to MasseyMedia’s high-performance WordPress hosting. This was a modernization rather than a fresh start: we kept the institutional content the council depends on while improving everything around it. The redesign brought stronger functionality, cleaner responsive HTML, and more consistent branding to a site that member agencies and the public rely on, replacing a dated version that struggled on mobile and undersold the organization’s mission.

We took DETRAC’s large body of governance material, the board of directors, executive committee, general assembly, subcommittees, and bylaws, and gave it a clear, logical structure so member agencies can reach documents quickly. Board agendas and minutes were organized into an easy-to-find home, which matters for a body whose work runs through meetings and committees.

We built out the council’s injury-prevention resources across topics like child passenger safety, drowning prevention, older-adult falls, intimate partner violence, and residential fire prevention, so the public-health content is genuinely usable instead of buried. An events calendar keeps meetings and training dates current, and dedicated service pages cover programs like the Critical Incident Stress Management Team and Stop the Bleed.

Moving to high-performance hosting improved speed and reliability, so the site reads cleanly whether someone opens it at a hospital desk or on a phone in the field. Improved Local SEO strengthens regional visibility across Deep East Texas. The result is a faster, better-organized, more credible site that supports DETRAC’s role coordinating trauma and emergency-preparedness care across the region.

About DETRAC

The Deep East Texas Regional Advisory Council (DETRAC) is the regional advisory council for Trauma Service Area-H, headquartered in Lufkin. Its primary role is to provide stakeholder support through planning, facilitation, operations, and technical assistance for preparedness, trauma, injury prevention, stroke, cardiac, and pediatric services across the region. In practical terms, DETRAC helps Deep East Texas get ready for manmade and natural emergencies, disasters, and mass-casualty events, and it brings providers together to deliver coordinated, compassionate care.

DETRAC’s work runs through committees. Its trauma, stroke, cardiac, and pediatric committees work to establish standards of care and protocols that area hospitals, EMS agencies, and other providers can consider and adopt. The council is governed by a board of directors, an executive committee, and a general assembly, supported by subcommittees and bylaws, and it operates as a collaborative body rather than a single facility. Much of its value comes from convening the region’s healthcare and emergency-response stakeholders and giving them shared standards, education, and resources.

The council also serves the broader public. It runs injury-prevention programs covering topics from child passenger safety and drowning prevention to older-adult falls and residential fire prevention, and it offers services like the Critical Incident Stress Management Team and Stop the Bleed training. Its audience is a mix of member agencies that need governance documents, agendas, and minutes, and community members who need education and event information. Serving both groups clearly, while reflecting the seriousness of its mission, is central to how DETRAC communicates online.
