The Challenge

Pathways is a two-office counseling and forensic psychology practice led by Dr. V. Jean Stanley, a licensed psychologist who sits on the Texas Council on Sex Offender Treatment. The practice does work almost nobody else in Deep East Texas does, from court-ordered evaluations to custody risk assessments, and the website said none of it. The old site was a 2015 template with a search box where the headline should be, one paragraph of mission statement over a stock photo, and a services page that listed the practice’s work as bare bullet points with no explanation of what any of it meant or who it was for.

Search engines had the same problem a visitor did. When we audited the site in August 2026 it scored 36 out of 100: the sitemap returned an error, the structured data described the practice as a community health clinic, every page shared the same headline, and both Google Business Profiles sent their website clicks to a domain that no longer served the site. The practice was invisible to AI search on all sixteen questions we asked, and Google’s map put it eleventh to thirteenth around its own office.

What We Built

We rebuilt the site from the ground up in WordPress and Elementor Pro, staged on our own servers and launched on the practice’s domain with a 301 map for every old URL. The design leads with what the practice is: a warm, photo-led homepage that separates counseling from court-related work in the first screen, a provider directory where every clinician has a bio, credentials, a current availability note and a one-click “Request an appointment” button into the practice’s booking portal, and two office pages that read like a page about the town rather than a contact card, including the Lufkin page’s note on the VA clinic that brings veterans into town.

The Services page was the centre of the project. Working from Dr. Stanley’s own lists, we organised 85 services into general counseling, court-related evaluations, civil litigation services and court-related treatment, and gave every one of them a short plain-language description that appears when a visitor hovers or taps. It is the only page in East Texas that explains what a psychosexual evaluation or a sentencing mitigation assessment actually is, and it is all editable in the normal Elementor editor without touching code.

Underneath, we did the SEO work the old site never had. Every page carries its own title, description and single headline. Structured data now describes a psychology practice with two offices, real opening hours, eight credentialed clinicians and a question-and-answer FAQ, all written into the page where search engines and AI crawlers can read it. Both Google Business Profiles were claimed, corrected, pointed at the right office pages and given matching hours. A Rank Math sitemap, Search Console, a social share image, a downloadable forensic services brochure and a link to Dr. Stanley’s book finished the job.

85 services, each one explained

Every service on the site carries a plain-language description written in the practice's own voice, shown on hover on desktop and on tap on a phone. Court-related work that competitors list as a bare bullet is explained here.

Built for the map and for AI

Business, office, provider and FAQ markup on every page, server-rendered so Google, Perplexity and ChatGPT can all read it. Within a month the practice went from eleventh on Google's map to an average of sixth across Lufkin, and was cited by name in an AI answer for the first time.

Every clinician, one click from a booking

A provider template with photo, credentials, a live availability note and a booking button that lands inside the practice's TherapyPortal, so a visitor can go from reading a bio to requesting an appointment without leaving the page.
