ADA Compliant Website Design for East Texas Businesses
An inaccessible website turns away customers and invites legal risk. Our ADA compliant website design builds sites toward the WCAG 2.1 AA standard that courts and regulators point to, so people using screen readers, keyboards, and other assistive tech can actually use your site. We design accessibility in from the start, audit and fix existing sites, and keep them accessible over time across East Texas.
Accessibility, Built Into Every Page
An inaccessible website turns away customers and invites legal risk. Our ADA compliant website design builds sites toward the WCAG 2.1 AA standard that courts and regulators point to, so people using screen readers, keyboards, and other assistive tech can actually use your site. We design accessibility in from the first wireframe, audit and fix existing sites, and keep them accessible as your content grows across East Texas.
Every Accessible Site Includes:
-
Design built toward WCAG 2.1 AA, the standard most accessibility laws reference
-
Full keyboard navigation, so nothing requires a mouse
-
Color contrast that meets AA thresholds for readability
-
Descriptive alt text on meaningful images
-
Semantic headings and landmarks that screen readers can follow
-
Accessible forms with clear labels and error messages
-
Testing with real assistive technology, not just an automated scan
-
Defined spots for any disclosures or accessibility statement you need
Our Accessibility Process
Whether you're starting fresh or fixing an existing site, our accessible website design follows the same clear path, with no surprises and no jargon.
Audit & Assessment
We review your site against WCAG 2.1 AA using both automated tools and hands-on testing, then document where you stand today.
Prioritized Plan
You get a plain-English list of issues ranked by impact and risk, so the changes that matter most (and draw the most complaints) come first.
Design & Remediate
We fix the problems, from contrast and alt text to forms and menus that trip up assistive tech, or build the new site accessible from the start.
Monitor & Maintain
Accessibility slips as content changes, so our maintenance plans keep new pages and updates from quietly reintroducing problems.
The Standards We Design Around
"ADA compliant" gets used loosely, so here's the honest version: there's no single government checklist that makes a private business's site automatically compliant, which is why we design toward the standard everyone actually references.
WCAG 2.1 AA
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines are the international benchmark, and Level AA is the bar most laws, lawsuits, and settlements point to. It's the target we build and audit against.
ADA Title III (Businesses)
The Americans with Disabilities Act treats businesses as public accommodations. There's no codified technical standard for private-business sites yet, but courts have repeatedly used WCAG 2.1 AA as the practical measure of an accessible site.
ADA Title II (Government)
In April 2024, the Department of Justice finalized a rule requiring state and local government sites to meet WCAG 2.1 AA. After a 2026 extension, the deadlines are April 26, 2027 for entities serving 50,000 or more people and April 26, 2028 for smaller entities and special districts. If you run a government or public-sector site, this is mandatory.
Section 508
Section 508 covers federal agencies and many federally funded programs, and it also leans on WCAG. If you receive federal funding, it's worth knowing where you stand.
Accessibility FAQ
What does "ADA compliant website design" actually mean?
It means designing a site toward WCAG 2.1 AA, the accessibility standard courts and regulators point to. There's no single government certificate for private-business sites, so be wary of anyone promising guaranteed compliance. We build toward the recognized standard and document what we did.
Can you guarantee my site will be ADA compliant?
No honest agency can guarantee legal compliance, because it depends on your content and ongoing upkeep, not just the build. What we can do is design and audit toward WCAG 2.1 AA and keep your site there with ongoing maintenance, which is the most defensible position available.
Do you fix existing websites or only build new ones?
Both. We run accessibility audits on existing sites, hand you a prioritized list of issues, and remediate them. We also build new sites accessible from the start.
Is my business legally required to have an accessible website?
Government sites must meet WCAG 2.1 AA under the DOJ's 2024 Title II rule (deadlines in 2027 and 2028). For private businesses there's no codified standard yet, but ADA Title III lawsuits use WCAG 2.1 AA as the benchmark, so designing to it is the practical way to lower risk.
How much does an accessibility audit cost?
It depends on the size of your site and whether you want remediation included. We scope it up front with no surprises, so request a quote and we'll give you a clear number.
What's the difference between an automated scan and a real audit?
Automated tools catch maybe a third of issues, things like missing alt text and contrast. A real audit adds hands-on testing with a keyboard and screen reader to catch the problems scanners miss, like illogical focus order or forms that can't be completed without a mouse.
Does accessibility help my SEO?
Yes. Semantic headings, alt text, descriptive links, and clean structure help both assistive technology and search engines, so accessible sites tend to support your search visibility.
Will making my site accessible change how it looks?
Rarely in any dramatic way. Most fixes (contrast, labels, structure, keyboard support) happen under the hood or improve clarity for everyone. Accessible design and good-looking design go together.
