Our Process: No Surprises, No Scope Creep
You Should Know Exactly What You’re Getting Into
Most web design projects go sideways for the same reason: nobody wrote anything down. The scope shifts, the timeline slips, and by launch day the client isn’t sure what they paid for.
Every MasseyMedia project starts with a written scope of work. What’s included, what’s not, how many pages, what the timeline looks like, and what happens if something changes. If the scope grows, we talk about it first. It doesn’t just show up on your invoice.
Here’s how a typical web design project in Lufkin, TX works at MasseyMedia, from first call to launch.
Five Steps from First Call to Launch
Every project is different, but the framework is always the same.
Discovery & Consultation
We start with a real conversation, by phone or in person, about your business, your goals, and what you actually need. No online forms with 47 fields. Just a straight talk. Request a free consultation here.
We ask about your competitors, your customers, what you like and don’t like about your current site, and what success looks like. Everything that gets built starts from that conversation.
Scope of Work & Proposal
After our discovery conversation, we put together a written scope of work that defines exactly what will be built, how many pages, what features are included, what content you’ll provide, and the timeline. You can also request a quote online to kick things off.
You review it, ask questions, and we finalize it together. The scope of work is the contract. Nothing happens that isn’t in writing.
Design & Development
Once the scope is approved, we build. For web design projects, we start with design concepts for your approval before writing a single line of code. You’ll see what your site looks like before it’s built. Want to see examples first? Browse our work here.
Development follows design approval. We build on a staging environment so you can review the live site before it goes public. No surprises at launch.
Review, Testing & Launch
Before we go live, we run through a thorough checklist: cross-browser testing, mobile responsiveness, page speed, form testing, SEO fundamentals, and accessibility. We don’t launch a site that isn’t ready.
You give final approval, and we launch on a date you agree to in advance. No surprises.
Ongoing Support & Growth
Launch is the beginning, not the finish line. MasseyMedia offers maintenance plans, hosting, SEO services, and ongoing digital marketing so your site keeps performing after it goes live.
Questions, small changes, or a full new campaign — same number, same response time.

Process FAQ
How long does a website project take?
A standard business website typically takes 4–8 weeks from signed scope to launch. More complex projects with custom development, eCommerce, or large content migrations can take longer. We give you a realistic timeline upfront and stick to it. If we run into a delay on our end, we let you know immediately.
What do I need to provide?
Typically: your logo (we can create one if you need it), photos or images you want to use, and the written content for your pages. We provide guidance on what content is needed and can help with copywriting as part of your project. The more organized your materials, the faster we can move.
How many revisions do I get?
Revisions are scoped in the proposal. Typically we include two rounds of design revisions and a review period before launch. If significant scope changes come up during the project, we discuss them openly. Minor tweaks are handled as part of normal project flow.
Do I own the website after it's built?
Yes. You own your website, your domain name, and all the content we build together. MasseyMedia does not retain ownership rights or hold your site on a proprietary platform that you can’t leave. Your site is yours, full stop.
What happens after launch?
We offer ongoing maintenance plans that include software updates, backups, security monitoring, and small content changes. We also offer hosting, SEO services, and digital marketing on a month-to-month or annual basis. There’s no long-term lock-in required to get post-launch support.
Can I make changes after launch?
Yes, if that’s what you want. We can build your site on WordPress so you can manage content yourself through a familiar interface. We can also handle updates for you through a maintenance plan so you don’t have to log in at all. It depends on what works best for how your business operates.
